  1. Martin says:

    Eleven random facts about me:

    1) I love random facts.
    2) I once appeared on Fifteen-to-One.
    3) I lived in Spain for a year.
    4) I wanted to be a journalist even before I knew what a journalist was.
    5) I go to at least one gig and play a week in Bristol, but can’t remember the last time I had to buy a ticket.
    6) I was born in Bristol but moved away when I was a baby. When I returned aged 26 I lived about a hundred yards from the church I was Christened in.
    7) Martin is my name as well as my mum’s maiden name. This can sometimes get confusing for people working in banks.
    8) I support Watford Football Club, Saracens Rugby Football Club and Durham County Cricket Club.
    9) I was once ranked somewhere in the top-50 for junior squash players in Hertfordshire.
    10) My highest score at ten-pin bowling is 196.
    11) I was once held in a police station within the House of Commmons for two hours after getting lost.

And in answer to your questions:

1 If you could change anything in your past, would you?
Nothing at all. Je ne regrette rien.

2 What is one of your standard meals at home during the week?
    A ham and cheese sandwich.

3 What was your favourite childhood cartoon?
Sharky and George, they truly were the crimebusters of the sea.

4 What song reminds you of a happy time?
Different songs take me back to different places. I have lots of Spanish songs from around 2003 that remind me of when I lived in Spain from artists like Amaral, El Canto de Loco and La Oreja de Van Gogh.

5 What is your favourite comfort food?
I don’t really have a comfort food, but I like eating lots of fruit. So perhaps grapes. Or raisins, which someone once told me are dried grapes.

6 What is the nicest smell you can think of?
My 12-month-old daughter after she has had a bath.

7 What is your favourite joke?
A giraffe walked into a bar. “Ouch”, he said.

8 What was the last gig you attended where you sang along with the band?
If I know the song, I tend to silently sing along. Like Chevy Thunder by Spector who I saw at the Louisiana last week.

9 What was the last film that made you laugh a lot?
    Carnage a few weeks ago.

10 If you had a weekly column in a newspaper, in what newspaper would it be and what would you write about?
I have already had my dream column in a newspaper. The Watford music scene, in the Watford Observer.

11 If you could hypnotise people, what would you help them do?
To confront any damaging fear that they might have which stops them living life to the full.
