Welcome Mersina, from her grandfather

This birth announcement is from Mersina’s grandfather in Melbourne, Australia, on his blog ‘Efimeris’. I have translated the text but you can see the original on my dad’s post. Thanks dad!

I have written about many babies being born but this one is the best! My beloved daughter Ioanna has made me – officially now – a grandfather, giving birth to my first granddaughter, she’s gorgeous!

And like the ‘internet family’ that we are, the news came quickly from Bristol in England alongside a photograph of the newborn Mersina who made her grandma Mersina celebrate in Melbourne an hour after midnight and to say:

“How about that? We were engaged on Valentine’s Day and on such a day our first granddaughter entered our lives”!

And then she was on the phone to our daughter Alia in Brussels (who only a couple of days ago returned from Bristol) so she could send flowers and to express her joy about our beautiful granddaugher.

To our relatives, friends and those we know, thank you for the interest you have shown all this time and we present our granddaughter just minutes after her arrival on our planet and who rests with such trust in her mother’s arms.

Welcome sweet Mersina. Thousands of thank yous to our lovely daughter.
